Directed by Rian Johnson and fronted by Daniel Craig, murder mystery film Glass Onion is the second movie in the Knives Out franchise. Netflix briefed us to create a bespoke booklet to be distributed to guests of the LA premiere, and to be inserted in the December / January edition of Vanity Fair.
With a limited time-scale, we started crafting design concepts that would fulfil the brief but also be achievable in terms of time and production; and importantly didn’t create any spoilers to Johnson’s whodunnit. The design relied on the golden ratio, a key motif from the film which we then transposed to the layouts and the cover visuals. We used the key art campaign as a starting point but then elevated it to create a crafted booklet with a level of intrigue. Some of the design elements were also used by Netflix for the film’s wider marketing campaign.
